Claybridge Sound, Clayton, Melbourne
Band equipment hire company established by Ralph Bridges.

When I first hired from Ralph he was operating out of the back shed of his home. Later he opened a big shop nearby in Clayton, continuing to hire gear.

He took up radio advertising, but it was rumored at the time that it cost him more than it brought in, and was his undoing.

His amps were very like Goldentones electrically, mostly using a pair of 6DQ6A's driving a very well padded, not to say 'dead' box.

Ralph once told me that he had many of his hire amps stolen, and perhaps sold his stock when he closed. So you may still come across a Claybridge.

If you have any information about these amplifiers please see How to Submit.
